So recently I caught the latter half of the movie The Canyon. Not particularly a great movie, but watchable, except I don't recommend viewing it during dinner time like we did. =/
If you want to watch the movie and not know about it, stop reading now.
Movie summary:
newly weds hike in the Grand Canyon
guide with them dies
they get lost trying to find their way back to camp
trying to get phone reception fall off side of cliff - the call went through before the fall
husband's leg gets jammed below the knee and broken at the shin between the cliff and a rock due to fall
wife survives fall not seriously injured, but the phone is busted
they have access to a few matches and a knife with a belt holder
also, there are wolves looking at them for a meal
Okay, not the end of the movie, but this is what sparked a debate between my boyfriend and me.
My loving boyfriend says he'd leave me there or for me to leave him there to go find help. He'd not want me to cut his leg, were he the injured one, but leave him to die while I go for help.
My thought was chop off his leg, cauterize the wound and together try to find our way out (the same if I were injured).
As for the wolves, with the knife and sticks I'd defend us until the wolves won us over - this we agreed on that we'd fight them til we died. Although, he's confident he could take all the wolves on with a knife and as he said "if I didn't have a knife, I'd fight, but be worried. With the knife, not worried and could take them." I told him good luck with that. Ha =)
If found in this situation, what would you do?
